Dr. Dale Hancock receives the The Calvin W. Schwabe Award

The Calvin W. Schwabe Award is presented annually by the AVEPM to honor lifetime achievement in veterinary epidemiology and preventive medicine. During his tenure at WSU, Dr. Hancock developed and led a pioneering research program in the field of pre-harvest food safety, especially focusing on Escherichia coli O157:H7. This research program defined many of the key epidemiologic features of that agent in diverse animal populations.

Chocolate the Chesapeake 3 years later

Remember Chocolate? Not the edible kind but the young abandoned Chesapeake Bay retriever that ran for months on two broken front legs in the Tri-Cities area and subsequently underwent several surgeries at WSU in 2008. Dr. Norm Rantanen Receives WSU 2011 Distinguished Veterinary Alumnus Award

Dr. Norm Rantanen was the recipient of 2011’s Distinguished Veterinary Alumnus Award for excellence in teaching and research presented by Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

The presentation was part of the events at the 57th Annual Meeting of the American Association of Equine Practitioners held in San Antonio in November. http://www.vetmed.wsu.edu/awards/alum/TeachResearch.aspx

Dr. Sabrina Barry receives 2012 Mark Bloomberg Resident Research Award

Dr. Sabrina Barry was selected as a recipient of the 2012 Mark Bloomberg Resident Research Award by the Veterinary Orthopedic Society for her abstract submission. Dr. Barry is the first resident from WSU to receive this award in the 16 year history it has been offered.
