National FFA scholarships for aspiring veterinarians

by Abbie 8. July 2009 03:38

So any of you who know my background at all know I spent quite a bit of time learning, growing and working for the National FFA Organization.  Through both the Supervised Agricultural Experiences and proficiency areas...as well as some classroom curriculums...students can learn about veterinary medicine in a very hands-on way.  Now there's scholarships available also!

Let the games begin -- Admissions is OPEN!

by Abbie 8. June 2009 04:19

The Admissions cycle 2009-10 is officially open and underway as of June 4th.  Students interested in applying to the DVM program, with intent to start in the Fall of 2010, can now create their VMCAS application at: https://portal.vmcas.org/.  VMCAS is the national common application and all students interested in applying to the WSU CVM must complete a VMCAS application.  WSU applicants also need to complete the WSU supplemental application at: https://adds.vetmed.wsu.edu/Admissions/. Both applications are required to be considered for the WSU DVM program. More...

In the news again...

by Abbie 18. May 2009 06:21

So the WSU CVM is in the news again...this time for our outreach and recruitment of the Washington State FFA members who were on campus last week for their annual state convention.

(Special thanks to the Treadmill Team for running the demos!)

As a former national and state FFA officer myself, I have a soft-spot for these future agricultural leaders.  I also am well-aware that many of them have toyed with the idea of being a veterinarian...so this year the CVM offered a number of tours, workshops and of course, treadmill demo's for the FFA members.  Approximately 3500 students came to Pullman for the convention and about 200 made their way, at one point or another, to the CVM!

VMCAS requests 2010 application TESTERS!!!

by Abbie 9. April 2009 08:59

I just received this email from VMCAS...please take them up on this opportunity and make the application better for both yourself and other applicants!!!

Greetings,

The 2010 VMCAS application will launch early June 2008. Before we launch this year’s application, we are asking school admissions staff to assist us in testing the application.  If you also know of applicants that would like to take part, please forward them this message. This is an excellent opportunity for them to familiarize themselves with the application prior to the roll-out in June.  We will open the application for testing as soon as Monday, April 13, 2009 and will test for approximately three weeks. DVM@WSU registration closed

by Abbie 26. March 2009 02:42

I've received a few emails and phone calls over the past few days from prospective students who are having trouble registering for the DVM@WSU recruitment event.  The reason for that...registration is closed.  We have filled the event to capacity, so unfortunately if you didn't register early, you'll have to wait until next year or try to set up an individual visit at another time.

That being said, the annual CVM Open House on Saturday, April 4th from 10am-3pm, is a community event (no registration needed) and anyone and everyone is welcome to attend!  There will be lots to see & learn about, but there will not be any formal recruitment component to this event. http://www.vetmed.wsu.edu/announcements/openHouse2009/index.aspx
